Why "Lie to Me"? A Truthful Confession

Can you imagine your girl best friend intentionally marrying your first love just to make you feel miserable? Then one day, you met them again and they seemed to be totally happy while you’re pretending to have moved on but in reality, you still have not forgotten the guy you fell in love with years ago and life is as dejected as it can possibly get—no boyfriend, almost an old maid. L

This is a story of a woman, Gong Ahjung, with a successful career as a level 5 Ministry of Culture official (whatever that means in Korea), who got entangled in her web of lies when she said, in the midst of her pitiful misery, that she was actually married to one of the richest bachelors in their country, Hyun Gijoon.  Eventually, the lead characters compromised to enter into a void contract of fake marriage.

Call it preposterous but I instantly loved the idea of lying to be perfect but with the right reasons. You don’t get cheated and dumped just because of a self-centered woman who calls you friend! But the real conflict of the story is that, Hyun Gijoon is still madly in love with his ex-fincee, who recently re-appeared, but could not marry her because his younger brother Oh Yoonjoo loves the same girl. And this ex-fiancee is still madly in love with the leading man too. I’m not really sure how’d she react when she discovers about the fake marriage.

There’s more to that, the little brother calls himself as the genie of Gong Ahjung. I don’t know his motive right now but I’m dying to know if he’ll fall in love with her because that would be history repeating itself (Brothers loving the same girl). There’s too much to watch out in this movie, it’s complicated but it’s hilariously-sweet.

Aside from the plausible chemistry, I also like the rude character of the leading man, not the typical head-over-heels guy. There’s an element of challenge where, the girl who can soften his dispassionate heart earns not just his love but also his respect, I love it. And from what I heard, they will have sweet kissing scenes, not that I love those scenes, I want to see how their chemistry will nail it.

Best part, you’ll get to see their posh outfits. LOL.

CONCLUSION: I wouldn’t write a blog if it’s not worth the mention. This Koreanovela has just started on GMA prime time, airing after One True Love. Give it a shotJ
